We are so happy to tell you all that Jeriah Ross has arrived! He was born today, October 27th at 11:35am. He weighed in at 5lbs 13oz and is 18.5 inches long. He is doing well, Kristin could be better but she says she will get there. Pictures to come once I am not doing this from my phone. Ian
So this new little man has decided to keep his head up so tomorrow will be "the day", his birthday. My c-section is scheduled for 10am Oct 27th so back home in BC it will be midnight. I am not worried about the actual c-section, the recovery is the part I am not looking forward too. Of course my fist choice would have been a natural labor and delivery, I am good at having babies. I am sure God has a reason why it is happening this way though so I will go with that. We are of course totally excited that we will get to meet our new little man tomorrow! It is strange knowing so many of the details already when the previous 2 times we didn't really know anything. We know he is a boy, we know his birthday will be Oct 27th we know he will be born at 10:?? am, and we even know that he will weigh somewhere in the 6lbs range. At my last doctors visit another ultrasound was done, it was confirmed again that he was still breech. The doctor did 2 separate set of measurements that both put him at over 6 lbs. That made me feel a lot better about his earlier then expected arrival, I was worried that he would be really small. So for the last time (although I know not to say ever...) here is my baby belly.
42 3/4", with Marin I was 43" and with Corban I was the same as this time.
So this is it, I am off to bed, I am having a baby tomorrow! :) Pray for us please and thank you. :)
So our littlest boy is still sitting on his bottom. A c-section has now been booked for Oct 27th, one week from today! I have another doctors appointment booked for next Saturday, three days before, for another ultrasound. They will also do one last check to see if he has turned around before they do the actual c-section. I am pretty sure I'll be able to tell if he does turn though, instead of feeling his little head pushing into my ribs he will be kicking me. I would really like to be kicked in the ribs! We are still praying that he will turn around. I am not afraid of having a c-section, but I know the recovery from it will be harder and longer, I wont be able to lift Marin and Corban and that will make things difficult. I know this is the safest way to go for the baby, but I am left wondering what if... Anyway here are a couple pictures from this week. Measuring 42 1/2". With Marin I was 43 1/2" and with Corban I was the same as this 3rd time.
I can't believe that we are so close to meeting him! :)
If any of you "c-section survivors" have any info or advice I'd love to hear it. If you don't want to leave it as a comment for all to read you can always send me an email, if you don't have my address you can use the one on the sidebar. Thanks. :)
Time to update you all on what is up with little Baby Foulds #3... his head... come on little man this is the one time Mommy is asking you to stick your bum up, please! I had another ultrasound this past Saturday to confirm that indeed he is still breech, I was sure that was the case though. We have some waiting to do though, and some decisions to make, I'll give you the big picture scoop. The clinic here at KAUST is capable of handling the birth of babies and the complications that can arise with that. However the OB/GYNs are only here at the clinic 2 times a week (the other days they are at the IMC in Jeddah). If a baby were to come when they are not here it would be handled by the emergency doctors. In a normal birth that would be fine, but seeing that our little one is breech that is not the best and if I did go into labor it would be a emergency c-section. Also adding to the situation is that there is a very high likely hood that this 3rd labor and delivery could go very fast for me so there is no way I am getting into a vehicle and driving to Jeddah while in labor. We have discussed with the doctors here the options, I am a "good candidate" for an external cephalic version (turning the baby), but the success rate for that is about 50/50 and there are complications that can occur with it. An ECV would be done at the latest at 38 weeks and if complication did arise then a c-section would happen right away. Adding slight worry to this also is that even though I am 37 weeks the Baby's size is measuring 36 weeks, this is not really to surprising though Marin and Corban were not big babies and they went 3 and 6 days past their due dates. So the longer this little guy can stay in there the better. I will be seeing the doctors weekly and if he hasn't turned by 39 weeks then a schedualed c-section (which would be done at the IMC in Jeddah) is most likely our safest option for him. Other wise everything else is just the way it should be, both he and I are doing great. Here is the baby belly for you to see. :)
Measuring 42 1/4", with Marin I was 43" and with Corban I was also 42 1/4".
Thinking back on my pregnancies with Marin and Corban I know that Marin was head down for about a month before she arrived, Corban I think waited longer though so maybe his little brother is doing the same. I can't really wrap my head around that fact that in such a short time we will have a new baby, SO MUCH has already happened this year that we a haven't really had time to process the fact that we are going to have another baby! It will probably hit my like a load of bricks one night while I am up feeding him when is is 5 months old. That being said we are very much looking forward to meeting our new little boy and finding out what he is like. It will be fun to have the 5th member of our family here and being part of our day to day life. I am sure he will fit right in and after a very sort time it will be like he was never not here.
We are praying though that this little guy will flip around and come on his own timing. Most importantly though we are praying that however he ends up arriving that he will arrive here safe and healthy. If you could pray with us that would be super. :)
So this week we remembered to take pictures and we even had a real measuring tape that had arrived in our air freight.
42" With Marin I was 41 1/2" and with Corban I was 41 3/4"
So things are going pretty well, I could use more sleep, and my hips are still in rough shape, but that won't last forever. The sore hips part anyway, I am not counting on a full nights sleep for the next 3 years. I have my 3rd doctor's appointment here coming up next week and will be having another ultrasound. I had one done during my 1st appointment here and everything looked great. It was noted that, he, the baby, was measuring a little on the small side for the number of weeks that I was. That fact that he is measuring on the small side is not really a huge surprise or concern to me, Marin and Corban were not big babies, Marin was 6 lbs 12 oz (3 days over due) and Corban was 7 lbs 3 oz (6 days over due), so I am not anticipating a big baby this time either. We are looking forward to meeting our new little guy, I don't know that we feel ready for his arrival, but given all that is going on I don't know that we will. Considering all the changes we have had this past year I am thankful that this is the 3rd time we are doing this, so we will have a bit better idea what to expect. It will be fun to see who he resembles in looks and what his personality will be like. I do have to say though, as I am watching Corban and all his total boyish behavior, I am worried about having 2 boys!
32 is how many weeks pregnant I am. After missing two weeks of baby belly pictures we finally snapped some tonight. We are still waiting on our shipment so I don't have my measuring tape, but we did find a way to get a measurement. We bought a carpentry measuring tape, so this evening I wrapped a housecoat tie around my belly and then measured that. 40 1/4", I looked back to find week 32 with Marin and Corban and only found it with Marin and I was 41". Not much has changed, this little guy remains active, more so in the evening. I am keeping things as low key as I can as far walking and standing. The other day I swept the whole 1st floor of our house, the next morning I paid for it though and could barely walk when I got out of bed. Sad I know. I am looking forward to having my normal self back, or at least non-pregnant me back. Paperwork for getting domestic help is in the works, but unfortunately it involves waiting on other people to do things. I can't believe that in two months we will meet our new little boy. Exciting!
1 month is how long it has been since we got on a plane to come here. It has been the hardest month we have ever been through. You know how it is when you say it feels like time has flown by and in other ways it seems to have taken forever. I don't think I can say that about this past month, I really don't know what to say about it except that I really don't ever want to go through that again. I do know that in some way we are probably better for it and I know that we have learned a lot. God has a plan and we know that, that is what got us through. Anyway on to a few more pictures to share. Last night was the unveiling of the KAUST founding stone followed by a big feast. Corban watched the action from atop Ian's shoulders.
As we were waiting for dinner the sun was setting that happens about 6:30-7 here. I took a couple pictures during that time. This is the library it is walled with very thin marble so at night it glows.
And the beacon, getting taller by the day, and night.
Dinner was tasty and meeting new people was fun, Marin and Corban enjoyed playing with friends and all the balloons that were out as decorations.
Finally here I am to update you! I have good news, we are now living in our house! Unfortunately though things are not exactly what we were expecting. Let me fill you in. On Aug 22nd we went out to KAUST for our appointment to see our house, it was at 1pm. When we showed up they were not ready for us, our file was missing as were the keys to our house. After about a 45 min wait the keys were found and we were taken to our house. We went on in to check out our house. Unfortunately it was quite clear that the crew they had in to paint and do some of the finishing work on the house didn't really care at all about the quality of work they were doing. Also neither did the crew they had in to clean. There were also some things that needed to happen before we could actually move in, one example most of the interior doors all lock and require keys to unlock them, different keys than the one for the front door. This was a problem because the last thing we needed was for one of the kids to lock themselves into one of the rooms! We walked through the house making a list of things that were issues and problems. A couple examples, our fire alarm system had a back up battery fault and would randomly go off, not the actual alarm, but a warning beeping sound, gate latches were missing on the gates at the side entrances to the yard and our garage door was not working. Also many items from our "soft pack" were missing, towels, bedding, pots and pans. Before leaving we prioritized them as to what we needed them to fix before we could actually move in. We figured the other things could be fixed once we got here. Anyway we left that day discouraged. On Aug 23rd, Sunday, day 17, Ian went out to the house again (from the hotel it is about a 1 1/2 house drive) to check on things and found that we had keys for the interior doors, and our soft pack items were also in place. We decided that we would move out on Monday. It should also be noted that Ramadan started during this all which meant that the majority of stores were closed during the day and many other services had shorter day time hours and more night time hours. This affected moving out to our house. KAUST would arrange for all our luggage to be taken out to our house, we had our rental car, but there was no way all our stuff would fit in it. So the time we were given for our stuff to be picked up was 9pm on Monday night. That afternoon I packed up the hotel room, we had dinner, bathed the kids and put them in their pj's and had our stuff in the lobby ready to go at 9pm. We ended up waiting in the lobby for 50 min! Corban had fallen asleep in my arms and Marin had made friends with some of the other hotel patrons who had given her chocolate cookies. We handed our stuff off to the movers, packed the kids into the car and started off our our 1 1/2 drive. When we arrived at the house we didn't have the playpen for Corban, and we didn't want to put the kids (who were both sleeping) in a bedroom they didn't know in a big house they were not familiar with, so the kids and I hopped straight into Ian and I's bed. Ian had to wait up for our stuff to arrive because he would have to go and meet them at the gates to lead them to our place. He got a call from them at midnight. So Tuesday morning Aug 25th we awoke for the first time in our new house, Ian and I felt icky after missing out on our shower the night before, and all our stuff was still packed the suitcases. To add to this we couldn't sleep in, we had a doctor's appointment booked for me at the KAUST clinic at 10am. So when the alarm went off we still punched snooze, ha! I will now back track a little to tell you that on Sunday Corban started not eating well, we pegged it at teething, because that is usual for him. Sunday night though he had a fever, still not totally uncommon for teething. Monday night he had a fever too and was eating even worse. We thought that while we were at the clinic we would also have him checked too. So off to the clinic we went. Upon arriving we filled out all the paper work for Corban and I being that it was our first time there. I went first, we brought the doctor up to speed on this pregnancy as well as answered all the other questions he had. Then he took us for an ultrasound. :) Baby Foulds #3 is doing wonderfully! Everything is as it should be and the doctor confirmed for us that a little boy is on the way. Then we saw a different doctor, when he came into the room he was right away cheerful and very engaging with the kids, he also "knew" who we were. He had been following our blog since our visit to KSA in March. Too funny! He looked Corban over and found that our poor little boy had an ear infection in his left ear. :( This was a first for Corban as well for Ian and I as parents, Marin has never had one. Anyway, antibiotics were prescribed, and we were warned of the symptoms to look for should Corban be allergic to the antibiotics. We walked over to the pharmacy located in the same building and got what we needed and then headed home. That afternoon we had to go out to get some groceries. There is a mini mart open here on campus, but it does not have all the needs. Corban had his nap on the way to the store, an hour drive. It was the most unpleasant shopping experience I think we have ever had, no fault of the store though. It always takes longer to shop in a store you have never been in, add to that that not all the brands on the shelf are recognizable, nor is all the writing on the products. Then add to that Ian and I were really tired, Marin was tired too and didn't really want to be in the buggy (no way we were letting her out though!) and then there was poor Corban. He decided not long into the shopping trip that he would only be happy if I was carrying him, if not he screamed, poor sick boy and poor pregnant me, I was in some real physical pain by the time it was all over. We did it though and we all lived to tell about it! And we got food to eat too! Food that we would have in our kitchen that we would make, this has not been the case for 2 months. It is nice. :) Okay so now here is the funny thing, by the time we got home that night after shopping it was so late and we had grilled cheese and apple slices for dinner, ha! So for those of you who may be interested a few little observations that we have made about shopping here. 1) Shopping hours during Ramadan: in general grocery stores are open from about 1pm to 6pm, and then re-open again from about 9pm to 2am. This is similar for IKEA. ;) 2) Yogurt only seems to be available in large amounts if it is plan, the flavored kinds only seem to come in the individual serving sizes. 3) Buying in bulk or in large containers is also not something we have seen yet. No 2kg of peanut butter, or 24 rolls of toilet paper in one package for example. Water is a different story though that is sold in all different bottle sizes and amounts per package. 4) We bought peanut butter that was made in Canada, although it is not a brand we have ever seem before, at least not in BC. Also on a similar note for those of you who missed it on Facebook gas (or petrol as they call it here) is the cheapest I have ever heard of or seen. We filled up our rental car for $6 and it was totally empty! $6! Crazy eh!? Okay so on with things. Our first 3 days here were rough, Corban was still not totally well, or eating well, we were all tired and not sleeping great, our home didn't feel like ours, we had no internet or phone and couldn't really connect with anyone and we were missing "home". On Wednesday I had to go back to the clinic to take the pregnancy glucose test which takes 2 hours. In the afternoon Ian made phone calls to have the various departments come and start fixing some of the issues we had with the house. Ian also started moving furniture around to make it more the way we would have things and safer for the kids. That night he also mopped the whole lower level of house. What a guy! On Thursday morning it was apparent to us that Corban indeed had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics, he had a rash on his back and a bit on his face. We headed to the clinic, again, as we were walking in I said to Ian that we really needed to make an effort to not go back to the clinic the next day. 3 days in a row, or first 3 here, was enough! Anyway we went in and the same doctor and nurses that had seen him 2 days before were there, and within half hour we were in and out with a new set of antibiotics. By now he had also started eating better too, but was still not totally well. In the afternoon Ian got the computer up and running, we finally had internet, as weird as it sounds having the computer back up and running made things a bit better, more like "home". We could listen to some of favorite songs on Youtube, Marin had her Backyardigans shows back, the kids could play Webkinz again, we had access to all our pictures and we could connect with family and friends via email, Facebook and Skype. That night for dinner we took advantage of the free food that is here on campus, we had pizza from Pizza Inn, and when Ian and Marin went to pick it up they also grabbed some ice cream at the mini mart. We all were happy and ate well that night. :) Since then things have picked up, the kids and I have been enjoying heading over to the "Island Oasis" in the mornings to play, it is super close to our house a block at the most. Corban is eating better, we are happy to be making our own food, and eating together just as a family, not in a big restaurant. Last night we even went for a little family walk after dinner. I think we will be okay here. :) There is still lots to do, there are still things on our list for the house that need to be dealt with, and the first day of class starts on Sept 5th, four days from now. Ian will be teaching his first class on Sunday Sept 6th, his class will run on Sunday and Tuesday afternoons. We also want to work at making this house our own. My brain has been working overtime on furniture, colors, arrangements, and all sorts of decorating ideas. Our air freight has already arrived here in KSA and should be clearing customs today or tomorrow. Then shortly after that it will be on it's way to us. We are very much looking forward to getting it. It will be like Christmas. :) Our sea freight is due to arrive here on Oct 1st. Marin will be starting preschool on Sept 26th, the date for that was originally Sept 5th as well but it was decided that preschool through to Grad 12 would begin after Ramadan this year to allow people to settle into their houses and life here, that and many people will still be arriving throughout the month of September. There is still lots to be done here at KAUST, one thing being the beach. The sea shore along here is quite shallow and so a little ways down the beach from us they are building the Island recreation center, right on the beach. Sand will be brought in and also a bike path is in the works that will come down the beach towards our place. When you stand in front of our house the beach is to the right. To the left is the yacht club as well as the beacon. We have an awesome view of the beacon from our front balcony. They are making good progress on the beacon, it is already much taller then when we first arrived here. I am looking forward to evening walks down the breakwater to the beacon. :) And now finally some pictures that I know so many of you have been wanting to see! :) In all the pictures Ian has, at my request :) moved the furniture around and or removed things entirely. The maids room and the 3rd bedroom upstairs are currently storage rooms for all the excess stuff. Anyway here they are.
I can't believe I am 29 weeks already! So much has been going on that being pregnant has kind of been put on the back burner. I remember last time after being pregnant with Corban that after he was born I felt like I had so much more energy and that I felt "normal" again, I imagine this time it will be even more noticeable! I have been waking up really early in the mornings since arriving here, around 5am, and I am sure there is a combination of things to blame for that. #1 jetlag, #2 needing to pee for the 2nd of 3rd time that night, thanks to the growing little one inside me, #3 Corban squawking a bit because he can't find his soother, and #4 once I am awake at that time my brain goes into over drive and I can't stop thinking about all the things I will want and need to do once we finally get into our house! My hips are still in bad shape, but I don't expect that to get any better until after this little one has arrived. This little guy is getting bigger and stronger and he moves around quite a bit. More so than Marin did, but a little less than Corban, I think anyway. He also doesn't get hiccups very often. It was interesting switching time zones like we did, I think he was still doing his normal routine so I got to see what he was up to at night time. :) He was pretty wiggly. I think he has started to change again to match more of what I am doing though. We are looking forward to meeting this little guy and finding out what his personality is like. :) Anyway we managed to snap a few pictures this week, unfortunately we don't have a tape measure with us so no numbers this week. Onto a bit of what we are up to while living in a hotel. When I last left you we were on day 6 so onto day 7, the "weekend". I think I mentioned a long while ago that here in Saudi Arabia the weekend is Thursday and Friday. I think this is going to take a bit of getting used to, the whole "weekend" we were calling Thursday Saturday and Friday Sunday. Ha ha. Anyway day 7, the morning was spent with Ian doing some work, I straightened up a bit and unpacked a few more things and played with the kids. In the afternoon there was some napping on all 4 of our parts and Ian organized a beach day for Friday. There are no public beaches here that you can go swimming at, but there are private beaches, you pay a fee to get in and you can wear a bathing suit and do normal beachy type things. So day 8, beach day! We took a rented mini bus along with another couple and headed out at 9:30am on our little adventure. The beach was about 45 min away and we had a fun drive there seeing parts of the Corniche we had not seen before. We arrived at the beach paid our fee and headed in. There were sun shades with tables and chairs, and lounge chairs on the beach. There was a snack hut with burgers, hot dogs, drinks and all that. We got into our swimsuits and got out the kids little inflatable rings and headed into the water. It was SO warm! And SO fun to just hang out and relax in the water. Marin and Corban loved it, they played in the sand and splashed in the water. We enjoyed hot dogs and fries for lunch and without trying improved our tans, we of course had sunscreen on. :) At 1pm the bus picked us up again and we headed back to the hotel for some naps. It was a good day. (I unfortunatly have no pictures to share, one of the beach rules was no cameras, and although others were not following the rule we thought it best to do so. I am sure you will get your fill of pictures of us at the beach in the years to come though. :) ) Day 9 "Monday" (Saturday) nothing stands out as a major event for that day, they are blending together a lot... Day 10 though Ian went and got his drivers license. Here is how the test went, 4 of them got in the car, it was a standard, the first guys drove forward 10 feet around a pylon. They switched drivers, the second guys backed up the same way the first guy had come. The third and fourth did the same. Ian got to drive backwards, he passed. Ha! And onto day 11 today. Ian had a meeting this morning out at the KUAST campus, and was gone all day, the kids and I filled our day with eating, "hotel playgroup" with the other kids and moms that are here, naps, and a "hotel room playdate" with Belky and her girls. So there you have it, I will leave you with a couple pictures. Vegging, watching VeggieTales. Marin saw me trying to take a picture of them and decided that the best look would be this, nice right?
A very bubbly bubble bath.
No bubble bath picture of Marin, poor girl is not over the the jetlag yet, at bed time she is so tired that she is in "melt-down mode" and tonight she told us that she didn't like bubble bathes which is SO not the case. She also ask to go to bed now and after prayers, a little song and good night hugs and kisses she basically kicks us out of the room saying "I want to sleep now". Such a change from before!
*** For those of you interested I have added a couple more links of the professional photos of KAUST to the side bar.
Today we are at 25 weeks of pregnancy, 15 weeks and it will be my due date! And with the way time is flying by that will be no time at all! On the way home from church today I was talking with Ian saying how big things seem to happen when I am pregnant. When Marin was on the way, I lost my job and had to find a new one, I was hired at 2 different places and then a 3rd were I stayed. While expecting Corban, Ian was writing and defending his thesis. This 3rd time, as you all know, is our big move to KAUST. Makes you wonder what could happen if there is a 4th! Also an observation I made the other day was that during this pregnancy we will have lived in 4 different locations, in 9 months! To say we have a lot going on right now would be a bit of an understatement! Anyway even though I haven't been blogging much (due to a HUGE lack of time!) we are still taking pictures, and measuring my belly, just like we did when we were expecting Marin and Corban. Week 23.
38 3/4" (With Marin I was 37 1/4" and with Corban 38 1/2")
Week 24
39" (With Marin I was 38" I couldn't find the pictures from 24 weeks with Corban)
Week 25
39 1/4" (With Marin I was 38 1/2" and with Corban I was also 38 1/2", and measured no change from weeks 23 to 25 with him, go figure...)
So this little guy growing inside me is becoming quite the mover and shaker. We are looking forward to meeting him and I had fun shopping for endless baby boy summer clothes for him. :) I am also looking forward to seeing how Marin and Corban will be with a new baby. This time Marin is older and much more able to be a part of things, so I think she will like that. Corban is very loving so I am sure he will love his new baby brother and when Baby Foulds #3 gets to be a year or so I am sure the 2 of them will have all sorts of fun together!
A little boy is on the way! :) Marin had been excited all day, she was looking forward to seeing the baby. She asked me this afternoon how they were going to open up my tummy so we could see the baby. I explained to her that is was kind of like the doppler at the doctor's but that it was hooked up to a computer screen and then we could see a picture of the baby. As we were getting ready to leave the house we asked Marin one last time if she thought she was going to get a baby brother or a baby sister. This time she said brother. We asked if she was sure because for so long she has been sure she was getting a sister. She said no, brother. She was right. She is really excited too, she was jumping up and down in the hallway at the ultrasound clinic saying "I am so excited to have another baby brother!" That made/makes Ian and I very happy that she is excited about 2 little brothers. :) We are of course thrilled too, a 3rd healthy little one is on the way! Everything with him looks great his little heart was beating away and he was showing us all his little moves. It will be fun for Corban and him to be so close in age, I can just see the fun *read trouble* they are going to get into! Wrapping his arm around his chest and bringing up his leg. The bottom of his little foot. :) And my favorite, flexing his arm for us. So was your guess right or wrong?
Here I am with another little baby belly report. We have now passed the half way point, crazy! I am feeling a lot more of the Babies movements on a more regular basis, which I like. :) I have yet to decide though if this little one will be as wiggly as his or her big brother. On Tuesday we go for our ultrasound, we are really excited to find out if we are having a boy or girl! Marin still maintains that she is getting a little sister, but is more understanding of the fact that she may end up with 2 little brothers. She is excited about the new baby and asks to give the baby goodnight hugs and kisses at bedtime. Corban really has no clue that he will be a big brother in 20+ weeks but I am sure he'll catch on quickly. I have been feeling well, and I have been working at getting my feet up more which is helping to make me more comfortable. Week 19 37 1/2 inches.
Week 20 37 1/2 inches as well. I was the same measurement with Corban at 20 weeks, with Marin 36 1/2 inches at this point.
So you only have 3 more days to make your guess if Baby Foulds #3 will be a boy or girl, the poll is on the side bar. Can't wait to see how many of you are right!
Yesterday the lovely Elizabeth (who is also expecting baby #3 and is due 4 weeks before me) asked me how I have been feeling. In a word pregnant. In more words tired, and sore, between all the things that normally need to get done, and the things that need to get done in preparation for our big move, and the things that we want to do it doesn't leave a lot of time for rest and relaxing with my feet up. I know I am probably over doing it and that going on a 6 km hike, spending the entire day at the zoo this past Saturday, cleaning the house today and doing many loads of laundry is not going to make for happy hips and good circulation to my legs but, there is only so much time in a day and only so much time left until we move. I plan to rest once we move to KSA. HA! Who am I kidding once we get there I am going to be nesting like a mad pregnant woman getting the house just the way I want it and ready for the baby! Anyway onto some belly pictures. Week 16
35 3/4 inches.
Week 17
36 1/2 inches.
Week 18, my poor stretched out belly, and my belly button is already fully extended.
37 inches.
So today is June 1st, June 1st! That means, among many other things that our ultrasound is only 17 days from today, exciting! If you haven't already made a guess as to whether we are having a boy or a girl go on over to the poll on the side bar and make your guess. :) Marin is still pretty adamant that a baby girl is on the way, although she has said that if we have a baby boy that that will be okay. I have been feeling more lately like a baby girl is coming too, but then again I have been wrong the first 2 times so maybe that means a baby boy is coming. Either way I think this baby knows that once we move to KSA it will be cut off from all things pork and is thus making me crave ham, hot dogs and bacon, mmm bacon.
So the baby talk has been lacking around here, the whole blog has been lacking for that matter. But blah blah blah. So far this pregnancy is going well, and we of course hope that is the way it will continue. Things have been pretty similar to my pregnancies with Marin and Corban, no sickness, just hungry often. One unfortunate thing though is that my hips have already begun to cause me pain already. When I was pregnant with Marin it didn't happen until the last couple months. With Corban they started bothering me about middle of the second trimester. This 3rd time though it started just as the 1st trimester was ending and the 2nd starting. Most of the time if I mix in sitting and standing they don't hurt too much, but if I am busy all day and if I do a lot of standing and bending then it gets bad. For the few days while we were packing and moving it was bad. There was many a time that I had to have Ian, Michael or Mark pull me up or support me in some way. When we were leaving our place to move everything up to the rental Ian basically had to lift me into the van. Pretty sad. I felt so pathetic... It is hard to describe, it's like I just can't make my hips move. Anyway other then that all is a-o-k and like I said at this point I can handle a "normal" day. We have been trying to do weekly belly pictures just like with Marin and Corban, we started at week 13 this time a few weeks later then before but here is what we have so far. :) Week 13
Week 14 and 35 inches
Week 15
35 1/4 inches
My belly is basically the same size it was the first 2 times give or take a 1/4 inch between the 3 times. One things we are planning on doing differently this time, and I think I already wrote about this is that we plan to find out if we are having a boy or girl. Normally we would leave that a surprise but given the big changes that will be happening we want to be as ready as we can! Our ultrasound date is set for June 18th and hopefully this wee one will co-operate and let us get a peek. I have put up a poll along the side bar so if you want to take a guess go for it. :) Ian and I really have no clue if we are having a boy or a girl. Marin remains adamant that she will be getting a sister, Corban has no clue a baby is even on the way. What do you think?
So it was my birthday on Saturday, I am 28 now. It was a day... it had some good parts, but many bad, unpleasant parts. It is a good thing that when you get older birthdays aren't that big a deal, cause if I were 10 it would have been horrible! That being said I am pretty sure it was my worst birthday ever. I woke up in Washington DC, we were there for the KAUST orientation and relocation meeting. The morning was the good part. We got to meet Belky and her husband Dave, Belky found our blog about 2 months ago when searching for things about KAUST, she sent an email and we have been emailing and blogging together since. We also got to meet many other couples who will all be moving to KSA this summer, many of whom have young kids similar in age to Marin and Corban, as well there are about 3-4 other babies who are either already born or will be born this year as well, so lots of little friends for all our kids. :) The meeting went well and we got some of our questions answered and found out a bit more on how this whole moving to KSA process will work. We had lunch with some of the new people we had met, but had to leave earlier than we would have liked to head to the airport to catch our flight. We arrived at the airport with plenty of time and got to where we were supposed to be, we boarded on time, but that is where things went down hill. This flight was supposed to take us to Chicago for a short lay-over, less than 2 hours, and the flight itself was supposed to be less then 2 hours. Also on this flight Ian and I were not able to get seats together and so... Thankfully the lady next to me was totally lovely and we chatted the whole time. We didn't leave the gate on time, we sat there for a 1/2 hour, then once we got out onto the tarmac we sat there for another 1/2 hour, apparently there was bad weather in Chicago. When we finally took off we got there in the time that was expected, but had circle in the air for another 1/2 hour because we weren't able to land. This was all because of continued bad weather and so there was some turbulence. My tummy does not handle that so well so I got to re-"enjoy" the apple juice I had had during the flight. Nice. Thankfull again for the lovely lady next to me she held my hair and got me tissues to wipe my face with. When we finally could land we could not get to the gate because of lightening strikes, the glowing wand controller guys were not able to come out and guide us in. Um wear rubber soled boots and live a little people! Anyway, we of course missed our connecting flight which had been canceled anyway due to the bad weather. Many other flights were also canceled so there was nothing leaving that night that would get us anywhere close to home. So we stood in line up after line up and finally got to a hotel at 11:30pm Chicago time. Our flight out the next morning left at 9:49am and we were on stand-by, thankfully enough people didn't show, so we made it, and we even got seats together! Once we arrived back in Vancouver (which by the way in our opinion has the nicest looking airport, we are on the look out for one better but so far not happening) it took a hour and a half to get through customs, many other flights had arrived around the same time. This was made worse by the fact that some over eager airport line up director guy thought it necessary to send us and others to the slower moving line up. Gerr! I also must rant about the fact that we will do whatever we can to NEVER fly with United Airlines again! The flight attendants we had left much to be desired in the whole customer service area and their seats are totally more close together than those of Air Canada for example. We were not impressed! When we finally did walk though the door into our house we were greeted by the 2 cutest kids in the world though, they both came running for hugs, hugs, kisses and more hugs. It was wonderful! We missed out kiddlets. Speaking of kiddlets, I am in week 13 now! We are finding it difficult to get a weekly belly pictures in this 3rd time round though. To say there is a lot going on would be an understatement. So I don't have a belly picture to share with you yet, but I do have a few of these bright and cheery flowers the Michael and Blair brought us in celebration of Baby Foulds #3. :)
Anyway so that was my disjointed post about my birthday. We did enjoy the very little bit of Washington DC that we did get to see, it seems to be a very nice and architecturally interesting city. I think I'd like to check it out more at some point.
Oh so I just have one more thing to say. We should all start praying for Ian now... This trip made us aware that I do not fly so well, especially when in economy class, airports are not my favorite place, my patients wear thin very fast and I am sure this is all exaggerated a little by my being pregnant. But the next time we fly I will be even more pregnant, 5 months, and we will have the kids with us, and we will be flying to the other side of the world, that is a long time on airplanes and in airports... I may just flip my lid people, and I am not kidding... :)
...yes, there is still a Baby in my belly. Have you looked at the Baby poll lately? The vast majority of us are not very good guessers. We might have to do another poll. Ha ha! This little wee one appears to be quite happy in my tummy and is showing no signs of coming. So... we wait. While we wait how about a video of Marin drinking water from our cups the other night. She was pretty chatty and thought drinking/playing with the water from Mommy and Daddy's cups was fun.
And for a bit more fun here is a picture of Marin with her two friends Brianna and Dylan. This past Thursday we went to Brianna's house and us Mommys had a lovely visit, we also got to meet Ryder, Dylan's new little brother, what a sweet little baby he is! The 3 of them had a fun time playing. And of course eating some cake too. :) They are so cute! (Thanks for the picture Natalie.)
So today was my due date, and there is still a baby in my belly. Oh well he or she will come when they are ready. I am really not bothered by it, there is nothing I can do about it so I will wait as patiently as I can. I am doing a good job too, I think. In another week I will be singing a different tune I am sure but hopefully it wont come to that. Belly pictures, that will fingers crossed be that last. Come out cute little baby we want to meet you! :)
43", a 1/4" smaller then I was with Marin at week 40.
We are continuing to enjoy the gorgeous weather we have been having. They keep forecasting rain but they have been wrong, and we are loving it! We walked up to the playground this morning and Marin, as usual, had fun playing with her Daddy. :)
This last picture is from Friday evening, Marin was sitting on the basket watching Veggie Tales Silly Songs on Youtube. It was cute so I took a picture. :)
